The Department of Hepato-pancreato-biliary (HPB) and Transplant Surgery, Singapore General Hospital and National Cancer Centre Singapore subspecializes in treating complex benign and malignant (cancerous) diseases affecting the liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bile ducts. 

Diseases of the liver, pancreas, and biliary tract may frequently require major surgery as the most effective treatment. These relatively rare major complex operations have been shown to be best performed at high-volume specialized tertiary centers to achieve complete recovery and good long-term outcome. Our experienced team of surgeons/ surgical oncologists are adept at performing complex operations of the liver, pancreas, bile duct and gallbladder. Besides providing cutting-edge surgical services to diagnose and treat our local population, we are a major referral center in the region and also a leading center for clinical and translational research for HPB diseases.

The department practices in an atmosphere of collaboration working closely with colleagues from other departments at SGH and NCCS such as Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Medical/ Radiation Oncology, Nuclear Medicine and Diagnostic/ Interventional Radiology.
