In the early stages, NPC may show no symptoms or only mild ones. As the disease progresses, common signs can include a painless lump in the neck, blood-tinged saliva, nasal blockage or hearing issues.
Doctors diagnose NPC through procedures such as nasoendoscopy, biopsies and imaging tests like CT or MRI scans to examine abnormalities in the nasopharynx.
Men, individuals with a family history of NPC, those from certain ethnic backgrounds (like Southern Chinese) and people who consume salted foods or smoke are at a higher risk of developing NPC.
