Assoc Prof Dennis Seow Chuen Chai completed his appointment as Head, Geriatric Medicine on 31 Dec 2022 after leading the Department for over 9 years.
Under Prof Dennis’ leadership, the Department continued to develop and expand its range of clinical services, which included the revamp of the Ortho-Geriatric Medicine Service into a daily service for hip fracture patients, the establishment of a Geriatric Medicine and Dementia Care ward in Ward 63, as well as the Early Access Geriatric Medicine Clinic for SGH Emergency Medicine patients. He played a pivotal role in laying the groundwork for further collaborative services with Emergency Medicine and General Surgery.
Prof Dennis was instrumental in the formation of the SGH Memory Centre by integrating the clinical services of Psychiatry, Neurology, Psychology and Geriatric Medicine. He is currently the Service Chief of SingHealth Duke-NUS Memory & Cognitive Disorder Centre at SGH. In addition, Prof Dennis is actively involved in various QI projects with Geri Senior Residents for the betterment of clinical care for patients, such as dental health screening for Ward 63 patients, and improving influenza vaccination rates among hip fracture patients.
He also serves as the SGH representative on the Advance Care Planning (ACP) Steering Committee, Agency for Integrated Care (AIC) since 2014 and is actively involved in the implementation of ACP in SGH
