Application of Solution-focused Coaching for Supervision

Educators and supervisors can use coaching as a means to facilitate students/learners to achieve their fullest potential by evaluating their performance and assisting them to set goals, create plans and stay accountable. Using a solution-focused approach, learners can be guided towards a preferred future, and supervisors can avoid being overwhelmed by with the learners’ troubled past.
In this sharing, the speaker will first talk about how educators and supervisors can first identify coachable moments in their day-to-day interaction. The speaker will also briefly introduce Dialogic Orientation Quadrant, to ask “above-the-line” questions that leads to better solution discovery and accountability.
At the end of this talk, participants will be able to:
recognize coachable moments in day-to-day interaction
appreciate solution-focused coaching approach
generate some “above the line” questions for coaching
