RHI Advanced Practice Nurses and Clinical Pharmacists

SGH RHI is immensely honoured to be the very first Rheumatology department in Singapore to train and have Rheumatology Advanced Practice Nurses (APN) and Rheumatology Clinical Pharmacists.

RHI Advanced Practice Nurses

SGH Rheumatology Advanced Practice Nursing is a highly specialised field of nursing that focuses on the diagnosis, management, and treatment of patients with rheumatic diseases. Rheumatology APNs work alongside physicians and other healthcare providers to provide comprehensive care for patients with a range of rheumatic conditions, such as rheumatoid arthritis, osteoarthritis, lupus, and gout.

Rheumatology APNs are expertly trained and have extensive knowledge of the pathophysiology, clinical manifestations, and treatment of rheumatic diseases. They are skilled in conducting thorough physical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, developing treatment plans, and providing patient education and counselling.

One of the key roles of rheumatology APNs is to provide comprehensive care for patients with rheumatic diseases. This involves conducting thorough assessments, developing and implementing treatment plans, and monitoring patients' progress over time.

Partnership with RHI Clinical Pharmacists

Along with SGH RHI Clinical Pharmacists who have deep knowledge of advanced rheumatology medicines, SGH RHI APNs counsel and empower patients to take control of their disease for better outcomes. One of the methods this is done is by leading RHI monitoring clinics.

In addition to providing direct patient care, rheumatology APNs also play an important role in educating patients about their conditions and treatment options. They may provide information about medication regimens, lifestyle changes, and other strategies for managing rheumatic diseases. APNs may also help patients navigate the healthcare system, connect them with community resources, and advocate for their needs and preferences.

Overall, rheumatology APNs play a critical role in the care of patients with rheumatic diseases, helping to improve outcomes and enhance quality of life for this patient population. Their specialised training and expertise make them valuable members of healthcare teams, and their compassionate and patient-centred approach to care makes them trusted advocates for their patients.
