​Vincristine is a chemotherapy drug used to treat certain types of cancer.

What side effects can Vincristine cause?

Early side effects

  • Mild nausea, vomiting or appetite loss may occur
    There are medications available, which may decrease these side effects. If you are given these medications, take them as directed.
  • Pain or skin damage similar to a burn may happen if the drug leaks outside the vein

Delayed side effects

  • Fatigue or muscle pain may be experienced
  • Temporary hair loss may occur 2 to 3 weeks after treatment
  • Mild constipation with abdominal cramping may occur within 2 weeks
  • Tingling or numbness in fingers and toes may occur after several treatments

Please seek medical attention if any of the following occurs:

  • Fever of 38°C or higher
  • Redness, swelling, pain or burning sensation at the injection site
  • Severe constipation not relieved by the use of laxatives
  • Double vision
  • Difficulty in walking
