Emtricitabine/Tenofovir - Dosage and How to Use

Truvada is usually taken once daily, in combination with other antiretroviral agents, to achieve significant decrease in viral load.
Truvada can be administered with or without food. Swallow the tablet whole, do not crush, chew or break the tablet.

Missing doses may make Truvada less effective and may also make the virus resistant to Truvada and other possible antiretroviral agents. This could make the virus harder to treat.
If you forgot to take the medication, take the missed dose as soon as you remember. If you remember a missed dose at the time of your next dose, omit the missed dose and take only your regularly scheduled dose. Do not take a double dose to make up for the missed one.
If you vomit within 1 hour of administration, take or give another dose if possible.
