Temsirolimus is an intravenous (injected into the vein) chemotherapy used for the treatment of certain types of cancer.

What side effects can Temsirolimus cause?

Early side effects

  • Mild nausea and vomiting may occur
    There are medications available, which may prevent or decrease these side effects. If you are given these medications, take them as directed.

Delayed side effects

  • A drop in the white blood cell counts may occur after treatment.
  • High cholesterol level
  • High sugar level
  • Mouth ulcers and/ or tenderness
  • Diarrhea or constipation
  • Muscle pain and weakness
  • Not being able to sleep

Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:

  • Fever of 38°C or higher
  • Diarrhea lasting longer than 24 hours
  • Unusual bleeding, bruising or black tarry stools
  • Any shortness of breath, chest pain
