Bendamustine is an intravenous chemotherapy used alone or in combination with other agents for the treatment of certain cancer.

What side effects can
Bendamustine
cause?
During infusion
- Allergic reaction may occur. Symptoms include fever, chills, shortness of breath, itch or rash.
- Redness, swelling and pain at the injection site if the drug leaks out of the vein.
Please alert your nurse immediately if you experience the above symptoms.
Early side effects

Nausea and vomiting may occur
There are medications available which may prevent or decrease these side effects. If you are given these medications, take them as directed. - Diarrhea or constipation
- Loss of appetite
- Fatigue
- Headache
Delayed side effects
- A drop in the blood cell counts, usually reaching their lowest level by the 3rd week of treatment
- Mouth ulcers
- Mild swelling of the extremities
Inform your doctor if any of the following occurs:
- Fever of of 38°C or higher
- Unusual bleeding, bruising or black tarry stools
- Pain, itch, redness or swelling occuring near injection site
- Skin rash
- Shortness of breath, chest pain
