Profile

Dr Tan Han Khim graduated with MBBS from the National University of Singapore in 1989, obtained the MRCP (UK) in 1995 and was conferred Doctor of Medicine (MD) by the National University of Singapore in 2005. 

Education

Professional Appointments and Committee Memberships

Current professional interest is in the field of Critical Care Nephrology, Blood Purification, acute renal replacement therapy, artificial liver support and cytokine immunomodulation in severe sepsis. MARS liver dialysis at SGH was started up by Dr Tan Han Khim in 2002/03 as a pilot project to treat acute liver failure patients in collaboration with the General Surgical and Gastroenterology/Hepatology departments. MARS has now become standard artificial organ support in the intensive care units at SGH available to critically ill patients where indicated.

  • ​MOH HMDP Fellowship in Critical Care Nephrology at the Austin Hospital, Heidelberg, Victoria, Australia in 1998/99;  
  • NMRC CRRT research grant in 2001, Singhealth Research Grant to start up MARS liver dialysis in 2002/03
