Dr Suraya is a Consultant at the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery in Singapore General Hospital. She was trained at Imperial College London (2002-2008) and completed her Orthopaedic Residency under the Singhealth Residency Training Programme in 2019. She has a keen in interest in musculoskeletal oncology and as part of the musculoskeletal tumour team in Singapore General Hospital, sees a wide range of both soft tissue tumours, primary bone tumours and metastatic bone tumours.
In addition, Dr Suraya also sees patients with degenerative conditions of the hip and knee as well as all acute trauma and limb infections.
Her research interests include the use of 3D printed customized implants in tumour surgery and also clinical research in the field of limb salvage surgery. Dr Suraya has attended and presented at multiple Musculoskeletal Tumour conferences internationally and has also been involved in multi-centre international clinical trials as part of her research work.
Dr Suraya is also actively involved in the teaching of junior doctors and medical students under the purview of Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine (National University of Singapore) and also teaches Duke-NUS students.
Dr Suraya has participated in and assisted in many cadaveric and instructional courses throughout her career. In addition, Dr Suraya is a strong advocate for proficiency for trauma care – and has been an Instructor for Advanced Trauma and Life Support (ATLS) courses in Singapore since 2017.
