Profile

Dr Ng Si Rui is a Consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre's Glaucoma Department with a special interest in cataracts and glaucoma.

Dr Ng completed his undergraduate medical education at the National University of Singapore and received several awards including book prizes and placing on the Dean's List. He underwent his postgraduate training at SingHealth's Ophthalmology Residency where he was awarded the Outstanding Resident Award as the top trainee throughout most years of his training. During the course of his training, he obtained his Masters of Medicine (Ophthalmology) and became a member of the Royal College of Surgeons (Edinburgh) as well as a fellow of the Royal College of Ophthalmology (London).

Dr Ng's main clinical interests include the treatment of cataracts, reduction of spectacles dependence in refractive cataract surgery, treatment of complex cataract conditions such as subluxed or dislocated lenses as well as the medical and surgical treatment of glaucoma. He currently practices at the Singapore National Eye Centre's (SNEC) branches at the Outram Campus, Changi General Hospital and Sengkang General Hospital. He is passionate about teaching future ophthalmologists and clinical fellows in clinics and in the operating theatre. He was awarded SingHealth Residency's Outstanding Faculty Award for his contributions in education.

Dr Ng has served multiple roles in SingHealth including being the Lead Resident during his Residency and was part of the SingHealth Residency Leadership Program. He was also appointed as the program lead for the Medical Transcription Service SNEC, Secretariat of the Forward Planning Committee at SNEC. Dr Ng is the current Deputy Chief Medical Informatics Officer at the Singapore National Eye Centre. He is the Principal Investigator of a few studies and holds several grants for research in clinical innovation.
