- 2014 | Sprint National Audit Project 1 (SNAP 1)
This is a multi-centred audit organized by the Royal College of Anaesthetist, looking into patient satisfaction after anaesthesia. I was the lead investigator for Perth Royal Infirmary
- 2011 | European Surgical Outcome Studies (EuSOS)
This is a multi-centred study across Europe, aiming to investigate surgical mortality and morbidity. I am the local lead investigator for Perth Royal Infirmary. The study was published in Lancet in 2012.
- 2004-8 | Studying correlation between respiration, blood pressure and finger plethysmograph signals in healthy volunteers
This research project studied unfiltered DC coupled finger plethysmograph signals and their relationships with blood pressure and respiratory signals using wavelet analysis. Results were presented at the Anaesthetic Research Society 2005 and 2006 Meetings.
- 2005-7 | What are the learning experiences of Physicians’ Assistant Anaesthesia Trainees (PAATs) in Scotland?
This is a qualitative research project into the learning experiences of PAATs in Scotland. The findings were presented in a dissertation, which was submitted to the University of Edinburgh for the degree of MSc in Medical Education.
- 2004-7 | Interventional Radiology in Women with Suspected Placenta Accreta Undergoing Caesarean Section
A retrospective study on the use of interventional radiology in women with suspected placenta accreta i.e. those with placenta praevia and previous caesarean section. At the time of study, the use of interventional radiology in obstetrics was not fully established. The publication from this study has been frequently cited.
