Associate Professor Darren Koh serves as a Senior Consultant Anaesthesiologist at Singapore General Hospital. He is the Education Director of the SGH Campus and holds pivotal roles as the Clinical Educator Lead (Medical) and Associate Dean at the NUS-Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Additionally, he maintains adjunct and clinical associate professorships at NUS-Medicine and Duke-NUS Medical School, respectively. His leadership is instrumental in steering the SGH educational pillar within the SGH’s Academic Medical Centre, guiding the direction and oversight of all undergraduate and postgraduate education and training for all professional groups.

 

A/Prof Koh's professional journey commenced at the National University of Singapore, where he earned his Bachelor of Medicine & Surgery (MBBS) in 1993, followed by a Master of Medicine (Anaesthesia) in 1998.He was honoured with the HMDP award in 2000, subsequently completing an advanced fellowship in Neuroanaesthesia and Neuro-Intensive Care. His professional recognitions include a fellowship at the Academy of Medicine, Singapore, and a Graduate Diploma in Acupuncture. He is also duly registered with the Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners Board (Acupuncture) under the Ministry of Health.

 

In his role as a clinician-academician, A/Prof Koh actively contributes to the academic sphere as a lecturer and tutor, engaging in problem-based learning, simulation-based learning, health-ethics law, professionalism, and educational leadership training programs.
