Profile

Associate Professor Gan Wee Hoe is dually accredited in Occupational Medicine and Aviation Medicine. He is Senior Consultant of the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at the Singapore General Hospital and Senior Consultant at Changi General Hospital’s Changi Aviation Medicine Centre. At the SingHealth level, he is Chief Executive Officer of SingHealth Community Hospitals.

A/Prof Gan completed his Basic Specialty Training in Internal Medicine, followed by Advanced Specialty Training in Occupational Medicine. He received his Aviation Medicine training in the United Kingdom and belongs to the pioneer batch of Aviation Medicine specialists in Singapore. He pursued the Master of Public Health programme at the National University of Singapore and graduated with distinction, winning the Tye Cho Yook Gold Medal, the Society of Occupational Medicine Gold Medal and the Richard Gillis Prize. 

A/Prof Gan was with the Singapore Armed Forces for more than 17 years, with his last appointment being Chief Air Force Medical Officer and concurrently Assistant Chief of Medical Corps. During his tenure, he led the transformation of PACES 3, the SAF’s electronic medical records which won an award at the Health IT Excellence Award 2017. 

A/Prof Gan is a member of the Preventive Medicine Residency Advisory Committee and core faculty of the Residency program. He has published scientific papers and textbook chapters in Occupational and Aviation Medicine, including serving as the Co-editor of the Textbook of Occupational Medicine Practice (5th edition). For his outstanding contribution to the science and practice of Occupational Medicine, he was conferred the Honorary Fellowship of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine, Royal College of Physicians (London) in 2022.

A/Prof Gan sits on several Ministry of Health and Ministry of Manpower specialist working groups, and co-chairs the Workplace Health Committee under the National Workplace Safety and Health Council. He is also a member of the Civil Aviation Medical Board under the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore. He is the past President of the Society of Aviation Medicine Singapore and the current President of the College of Public Health and Occupational Physicians, Academy of Medicine, Singapore.
