Dr Chia Ghim Song is currently the Director of the Neurointerventional Radiology Service and Deputy Head of the
Neuroradiology Department at the Singapore General Hospital. Subspecialising in diagnostic and interventional neuroradiology, he dedicates his practice to treating a wide spectrum of neurovascular conditions affecting the brain, spine, head and neck. Dr Chia’s expertise encompasses treatment of life threatening and critical conditions such as acute ischemic stroke and brain aneurysms, utilising state-of-the-art minimally invasive techniques to improve patient outcomes.
Dr Chia obtained his medical degree from the Duke-NUS Medical School in 2011 as a recipient of the Shaw Foundation scholarship. He was awarded the Seah Cheng Siang Gold Medal in Internal Medicine and honoured as the class valedictorian. During his residency training, he served as Chief Resident as part of the esteemed Singapore Chief Resident Program.
He completed a year-long neurointerventional radiology fellowship at the Gold Coast University Hospital, renowned as one of the first centres in the world to perform robotic neuroendovascular intervention under the MOH Health Manpower Development Plan Award. Upon his return, Dr Chia spearheaded the adoption of the transradial approach as a cornerstone for neurointerventional procedures at SGH.
As Clinical Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS, Dr Chia is actively involved in teaching and mentoring medical students. He served as the chairman of the Singapore Medical Association (SMA) doctors in training committee and was a council member. He is the founding and past president of the Duke-NUS medical alumni.
