Dr Charn Tze Choong is a Senior Consultant at the Department of Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose and Throat Surgery) at Sengkang General and Singapore General Hospital. He is also a Visiting Consultant to the Department of Otolaryngology, KK Hospital and SNEC.
A graduate of the National University of Singapore, Dr Charn obtained his Masters of Medicine in Otolaryngology (ORL), and thereafter completed his specialist training and became accredited as a Otolaryngology specialist by MOH Specialist Accreditation Board. He also sat for and obtained two optional specialist qualifications of Diploma in Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery (England) and European Board Examinations in ORL. The latter of which he qualified as the Top candidate for the exam (sole gold medallist).
Dr Charn underwent Otolaryngology Clinical and Research fellowship training (ORL) in London, United Kingdom, under the London Northwest NHS Trust in 2012. He completed his Advanced Rhinology and Skullbase Fellowship training at the McGill University Health Centre in Montreal, Canada in 2017. These opportunities to train at these international centres enhanced and imbued into Dr Charn the technical expertise, advanced specialist practice and thoughtful surgical philosophies to perform and practice as a skilled, competent and responsible surgeon.
Dr Charn has a passion for teaching and training the next generation of doctors and otolaryngologists. He is involved in the teaching of Anatomy and Otolaryngology to both undergraduate and graduate medical students in NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Duke NUS Medical School and overseas medical schools. In research, he continues to be active and has had presented research papers at various Otolaryngology scientific meetings both overseas and local, where he had also won presentation awards. He has published numerous research papers in peer reviewed scientific journals. He has also co-authored book chapters in Otolaryngology and Rhinology textbooks.
