Profile

 

Dr Esmeralda Teo was educated in the UK and graduated from Imperial College School of Medicine. She did her foundation training in the North London Deanery and her Internal Medicine training in Singapore General Hospital. She completed her fellowship in Haematology with a special interest in Acute Leukaemia and Cancer Survivorship.

Dr Teo was awarded the NRMC clinician scientist award to investigate the interplay of synergistic mechanisms in combination chemotherapy for lymphoma and myeloma at the MD Anderson Cancer Centre in Houston, United States. She has publications in several peer-reviewed journals. During this time, she also completed a chaplaincy course and was awarded the lay chaplain of the year award.

Dr Teo completed a Graduate Diploma in Palliative Care and uses that training to bring to the forefront an integrated supportive care approach in the initial management and diagnosis of leukemias. She believes in the holistic approach to the management of haematological conditions and places a strong emphasis on a multi-disciplinary care, maximizing social support and integration of new evidence-based treatment, to ensure that patients receive good individualized care.
