Dr Cassandra Hong is a Senior Consultant in the Department of Rheumatology and Immunology, Singapore General Hospital (SGH). She graduated from the University of Edinburgh Medical School and subsequently underwent her Rheumatology and Internal Medicine training in King’s College London. She has also been awarded a Distinction for her research work on IL-1 and IL-6 as clinical markers in predicting scleroderma renal crisis at King’s College London, and won the first prize in the Harvard UK Clinical Scholars Research Training programme.
She has worked in several major teaching hospitals in London including University College London Hospital, Royal Free Hospital, Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital, King’s College Hospital and St George’s Hospital.
Dr Hong joined SGH in 2016. Her sub-specialty interests are in musculoskeletal ultrasound (MSUS), systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), inflammatory arthritis and connective tissue diseases (CTDs). Having completed the CASE Accredited Ultrasound Diploma at Canterbury Christ Church University and the EULAR Advanced Ultrasound Course, Dr Hong is a EULAR certified ultrasonologist skilled in the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in the assessment of rheumatic diseases and different musculoskeletal pathologies.
