Research in Urology

Beyond providing clinical services to cover a wide spectrum of urological conditions, the department also has strong endeavors in research, contributing to the body of knowledge in the field. This comprises of several grant-supported clinical trials as well as research harnessing the strengths of our robust prospectively maintained cancer registry and database.

Current ongoing clinical trials:

  • Randomised Control Trial to evaluate the effectiveness of Extracorporeal Shockwave Therapy (ESWT) for Patients with High Tone Pelvic Floor Dysfunction
  • Prostate Cryotherapy: Phase II Trial of Focal Cryotherapy for Prostate Cancer
  • A Prospective Pilot Study of MRI-TRUS fusion Robotic Guidance for Focal Cryotherapy of Prostate Cancer
  • Mitochondrial DNA Deletions in Plasma for Detection of Significant Prostate Cancer in men with PSA <10ng/ml undergoing MRI-ultrasound fusion prostate biopsy
  • PSMAddition: A phase 3 trial to compare treatment with 177Lu-PSMA-617 plus standard of care (SOC) versus SOC alone in patients with metastatic hormone-sensitive prostate cancer
  • Prevalence of Oxalobacter formigenes in Singapore population and comparison of fecal microbiome between calcium oxalate stone formers and controls
  • Development and Validation of Novel Point of Care Urine Biochemistry Device
  • Tipless Urinary Catheter – Randomised Controlled Clinical Trial evaluating Efficacy and Safety
  • Wee Care
  • Effect of Preoperative Prostate Artery Embolisation on Intraoperative Blood Loss During Transurethral Resection for Large Prostate glands >80g
